The Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 1.6 patch was released recently. It fixes a problem in the 1.5 version of the game and ADDS 4 NEW MAPS! Great news huh? The only problem is the patch seems to break the game for quite a few people. I’ve put together a manual patch which should eliminate the problem. This patch will also work if you have a downloaded version of the game (from Direct2Drive) and get an error when trying to install the regular patch.
This will allow you to install the patch even if you have a Direct2Drive version of the game. If you have already install a 1.6 patch, but are receiving an error message referencing “code_post_mp.ff”, you can install this manual patch to fix the problem.
- Download this file to your desktop.
- Double click on the downloaded file.
- Unzip the contents to your Call of Duty 4 folder. Be sure to overwrite the files when prompted.
- That’s it. Enjoy the new maps!

What does overwriting it mean?

@kongy: There are multiple files in the patch which have been updated from those you have currently installed. “Overwrite” simply means that the old files you have installed will be replaced by the new ones from the patch.

Can you play on all original and cracked server with no problems with this manual patch?

@Matejvk: This is the same as the retail 1.6 patch, just package up differently. It is not intended as a “crack.”
