To comply with current Internet standards, Internet Explorer (Internet Explorer 5.5, Internet Explorer 5.01, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, Windows Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP, Windows Internet Explorer 7 for Windows Server 2003, Windows Internet Explorer 7 for Windows Server 2003 IA64) limits the number of simultaneous downloads (from the same server) to two downloads, plus one queued download. This configuration is a function of the browser. However, as connection speeds increase, and the number of total connections that are allowed to Internet servers increase, the two-connection limit may be restrictive.
To increase the number of simultaneous connections that are allowed to 15, you can either download and run this REG file [1]or follow these steps:
- Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
- Locate the following key in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings - On the Edit menu, point to New click DWORD Value, and then add the following registry values:
Value name: MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server
Value data: 15
Base: DecimalValue Name: MaxConnectionsPerServer
Value data: 15
Base: Decimal - Quit Registry Editor.
With either method, you will need to close all open Internet Explorer windows for the changes to take effect
